6:10A Transition Opens & Sign In's

6:50A Course Talk

7:00A Race Start

700 m Swim, 20 km Bike, 4 Mile Run

Location: Fiesta Island - Closed Course & Chip Timed

Our early and end of the season location, Fiesta Island provides a great environment for our club races. The transition area is situated at the split between the small and large loops of the island, next to the Aquatic Center.

Swim: Our swim is a calm, 700m swim just outside of the Aquatic Center. Unless otherwise noted, there will be two turns on the swim course, keeping buoys on your left. Lifeguards and volunteers will be out on paddle boards to help.

Registration will open approximately 2 weeks prior to the races.

Bike: The bike course will be five counter clockwise laps around the southern loop of Fiesta Island. Racers will head out of the transition area going west and turn left at the merge, completing the first four laps turning left at the split. The fifth lap will end by veering right at the split and heading back into transition.

Note: The island is closed for our races, but there are still cars on the course. Please exercise caution while riding. Helmets are mandatory.

Run: The run will be two complete laps of the northern loop of the island. Runners will head out of the transition area in the same direction as the bike course, turning right instead at the merge and starting their clockwise loop on the northern portion of the island. Everyone will pass through the transition area for the first lap and head back out for the second.

Note: cones will be placed to guide athletes, but please be present for the pre-race course talk to go over all the directions. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. Getting clarification on specifics beats wondering why everyone is biking towards you and not with you.

The San Diego Police Department will close the island to automobiles at 6:30AM and not reopen it until 9AM. Athletes may park on the island in one of the dirt parking areas, but will not be able to leave until 9. We encourage all racers to park off the island and ride up to the transition area for the race.

Our club races are not possible without the tremendous help and support of volunteers. We always need people to help out with setup, registration, food preparation, directing racers, breakdown and cleanup. If you can help, please contact at Dawn Copenhaver @ This email address is being protected from spambots. If you have any questions, please contact Jim Johnson to learn what you could do.

In an effort to continue the club's efforts to reduce our environmental footprint, please remember to bring your own plate and utensils for the post race food.  We will have limited resources on hand.
