This year the Triathlon Club of San Diego helped organize a 4 race Junior F1 series for the USAT Southwest region. The first three races will be held on the club's Fiesta Island course which features a 2 loop swim course of 300 meters, a 3 loop draft-legal bike leg that's 12 kilometers, and a fast 2 loop run course that's 2 kilometers. The final race in the 4 race series will be held in Pacific Grove on September 10. There are two age groups for boys and girls: 12-15 and 16-18. The racers that accumulate the most points over the course of the series will receive a regional championship award.
The third race in the series, and the last race in San Diego, will take place on May 15. In addition to the Junior F1 race, the club will be sponsoring a youth race for all ages on that date. The youth race will not be draft legal and will encompass a 150 meter swim, 4 kilometer bike, and 1 kilometer run. This race is open to all members of TCSD's youth program as well as the general public. This race is a great tune-up race for the IronKids event the following weekend on Mission Bay.
You can register for the F1 race and youth race on our website under the Racing -> Triathlons -> Junior F1 Registration. Results of the first two races are also available:
