UC San Diego Sports Medicine specialists include primary care physicians specializing in sports medicine as well as orthopedic surgeons trained in advanced, minimally-invasive surgical techniques. Our team of doctors treat the most complex sports injuries as well as minor, yet frustrating, musculoskeletal complaints. We provide medical care for competitive and recreational athletes representing a variety of sports, including the UCSD Tritons intercollegiate teams, the San Diego Sockers, the California State Games and the International Surfing Association.
Our patients benefit from a multi-disciplinary team approach geared toward making the correct diagnosis, treating the injury and identifying/minimizing underlying causative factors. We’ve also launched the first Women’s Sports Medicine program in San Diego. Physicians from around the country have been coming to UCSD since 1991 to hone their techniques in our nationally recognized sports medicine training program.
